PERSON CRIMES |
|||||||||||||
| Person crimes are simply defined as crimes
listed in Oregon Administrative Rules 213-003-001(14
“person felonies”) and (15 “person misdemeanors”).
Intuitively, these are crimes which tend to be committed against persons.
Persons in this case, mean live, actual human beings (not, for example,
corporations, which the law treats as “persons”). Examples of
person crimes are Rape, Kidnapping, Drunk Driving, Assault, most Sex Crimes,
Coercion, Murder, Selling the Custody of a Minor and so forth.
Of course person crimes are especially pernicious and oftentimes result in harsher treatment than other crimes in similar classifications. In fact, it is only person crimes which qualify for the special treatment of Measure 11. If you are charged with a “person” crime, you will need special attention and guidance as you navigate your way around the criminal justice system. Especially important are the collateral consequences of a conviction for these types of crimes. Also important will be to create a layer of protection between you and the government; you do this by seeking the counsel of a knowledgeable, aggressive criminal defense attorney as soon as possible. Give us a call here at The CAPETTI GROUP Law Offices right away to schedule a time for us to meet confidentially and discuss your matter. Knowing more about the law and your case can result in less fear and uncertainty as well as making smarter decisions. |
