The PHONE BOOK:
QWEST DEX vs. YELLOWBOOK

Sometimes people will call us after getting our Info Letter in the mail and ask us why they can’t find us in the phone book. We tell them they are using the wrong phone book. Here’s why:

Getting in touch with the people that we serve is just as important to us as keeping up with the latest trend in the law, or the latest trend in law-enforcement. After all, if we know all the latest materials, what good is it if we cannot tell the guy who needs to know it, right?

Running a law office is not cheap by any measure. Yet most of our clients are not wealthy enough or have enough cash-flow to afford lawyers who wear $1,000 suits or have mahogany-paneled walls or bookcases in their offices, plush green carpets, ornamental rugs, drive fancy cars, or keep leather-bound volumes or furniture. Bottom line: cost matters to our clients and we know it! In an effort to keep down the cost of retaining attorneys excellent in their field of need, we strive to keep down our own costs.

One means of cost-cutting is the put our money into the advertising that produces results. In this case, that would be YELLOWBOOK because their costs are far less than QWEST DEX. Here’s the breakdown of comparison:

  QWEST DEX YELLOWBOOK
COST Nearly 3 times the cost of its largest competitor. 1/3 of the cost of DEX for just as much space.
REACH A narrowly defined, limited market (e.g. Medford, Ashland, Northern California). Combines markets to maximize the reach of its customers and maximizes the cost-effectiveness of marketing dollars spent (e.g. Medford, Ashland, Northern California, as well as Grants Pass).
PRODUCTIVITY My experience tells me that DEX is limited in its ability to reach my customers. My experience tells me that YELLOWBOOK reaches more of my customers and conveys my message of hope and help more effectively.

As mentioned earlier, cost is HUGE for a law firm helping out the blue-collar guy who is in trouble with the law. This is one reason why you will not see us in QWEST DEX but you will see us all over YELLOWBOOK, and in many of their local books.

We encourage you to call your local YELLOWBOOK people and ask for your copy today. You can reach them at 1-800-YB-YELLOW (ask for Dena). Be sure to ask for your compact copy of the YELLOWBOOK and keep it in your car—it’s an invaluable tool to have while you are out-and-about.
